home.

we made it.
I know. I know. I didn't think it would be possible to do another 13 hour roadtrip, with a one year old, less than a month away from eachother...but we made it, only stopping 6 times, one meltdown, 4 movies watched [that kindle fire saved us!], and we made it in time to do bath time and get to bed on time!
I've said before that we are trying to make Colorado feel a little more like home. We have made amazing friends, Kalob has a wonderful job, and we are truly blessed. But every single time we turn off that Idaho exit and head home...I feel like we are really, actually...home. There is nothing that can shake that feeling. I used to think that it was just because Idaho was my "comfort" but I'm starting to realize there is something so much more...
because...

There really is no place like home is there?!

  1. yeah to making it! I hope I can make it this weekend on a 5 hour trip with a 6 and 7 year old and maybe our lab in the car. Hope I can stay sane! I agree with you There's no place like home! :)

  2. There is no place like home! I've been a Cali girl for 4 years now, but Missouri will always be home.

  3. It's so true that there's no place like home. I love the quote about it being where your story begins.

  4. I agree. When I Moved out I started calling Logan my "Home" because that is where I lived. But something about going home never felt like it did to walk into an empty apartment. I'd get teary EVERY TIME I would see the exit for my hometown :)

  6. We have done so much travel this summer that I now truly appreciate home. My son Judah and I have gone on all my husbands work trips this year so we have gone to Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, Florida, San Francisco and we are going to see my family in Connecticut soon. After all these trips, it feels so good to be home, to be in a routine, in familiar surroundings and not living out of a suitcase. Also it feels good to be home to decorate it, make it yours, have friends over and just really enjoy your neighborhood :-)

  7. A recently new reader but totally know what you mean! We live in NJ with our 3 1/2 and 18 month old---just did a 12 hour drive to NC to see my family and today we just did a 12 hour journey to Iowa to see my husband's family. Crazy, yes, but you do what you have to do to see family! But as much as I love family----I always love being back in our old house and back to our routines and normal life! Traveling with little ones is NOT easy:)
